Earlier this month, THQ sent out an ominous post card stating that something big was going to occur on its Metro: Last Light website on May 24 at 20:00 Moscow time. As a fan of Metro 2033, and an intrigued video game fanatic, I marked my calendar and logged on for what ended up being a short film based on the 2013 release.
The aforementioned five-minute film’s live-action means focus on setting a grim story, showing nuclear warheads exploding over Russia and the aftermath that occurs. In-between the first sightings and the inevitable explosions, citizens do their best to get inside of the country’s glorious Metro, which was built to withstand Cold War attacks.
In the series’ nightmarish fiction, which is based on popular books by Dmitry Glukhovsky, those who’ve ended up surviving the above-ground devastation have created a working civilization within the underground railway system. Different stations are essentially their own towns if you will, and special bullets are used as currency. However, whether those folks are lucky is questionable, because mutants have emerged from the radiation-filled wreckage.

Metro: Last Light was recently delayed into Fiscal Quarter 1 of 2013. It will be released onto PC, Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360.
