Marvelous Entertainment’s Yoshifumi Hashimoto announced today that the company is bringing Vanillaware’s former Wii exclusive Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Oboromuramasa in Japan) to the PlayStation Vita in Japan on March 28, 2013.

While Muramasa: The Demon Blade was largely overlooked by gamers, it was easily in my top 10 favorite Wii games and ranks high up on my all-time favorite list. The title has a few similarities to Vanillaware’s PS2 classic Odin’s Sphere, but has a superior gameplay system and story in my opinion. Not to mention the fact that the art style is nothing short of stunningly beautiful.

There is no word on if Muramasa: The Demon Blade will be released on Vita’s outside of Japan, but here’s hoping someone offers to publish this gem in the West. Better yet, here’s hoping that it gets a PS3 HD port!

Even if the game doesn’t end up making the jump to the West a second time, I highly recommend tracking down a copy of Muramasa on the Wii. It is just one of those games that should not be missed.
