At the planned Nintendo event in New York City this morning, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime took the stage in front of dozens of journalists and other important gaming people, as well as the millions (and millions!) of people watching at home to make the biggest gaming announcement of the year. And given the somewhat shocking Japanese announcements earlier this morning, everyone was hanging on the Regginator’s words. At last, we finally know when the Wii U will be hitting shelves.

The magic date is November 18, the exact date that many predicted and that was leaked a handful of times.

Reggie also confirmed that multiple SKUS will be released, much like the Japanese configurations. The basic set will include a white console, the GamePad, an AC adapter for each, an HDMI cable, and 8 GB of memory.

The premium set will include everything the basic set does but in black, with a Wii U stand, 32 GB of memory, an enrollment into the Nintendo Network Premium service (a rewards program for digital downloads,) and a packed in copy of Nintendo Land.

Reggie also pegged the basic and premium setup at $299 and $349, respectively.

Those are most of the most important details out the door right now but the event is still going on as I write this, so I’ll be sure to report further on any other developments. Given that these are the details everyone wanted most, I wanted to get this out there.
