Pixar is using one of its most beloved films to convince fans to see ‘Elemental’

We can't wait for our next adventure with these two favorites.

Up is one of the most iconic films in Pixar history, and Disney is treating fans once more with a new story involving Carl and Dug, which you can only see when you head to theaters this weekend to see the new animated film, Elemental.

“I just met you, and I love you;” if those eight words make up one of your favorite movie quotes, it’s safe to say that you’re not just a Disney/Pixar fan but that you also have impeccable taste in films. The above-mentioned phrase is uttered by one of Pixar’s cutest characters of all time, Dug, from the heartwarming and emotionally charged animated movie, Up.

Alongside Dug, Carl and Russell star in the sweet story, and fans have already seen the unlikely trio experience everything from an escape mission gone totally off the rails to attacks from menacing dogs, the fulfillment of a lifelong dream — in a very unexpected way, and the birth of a love story for the ages in several capacities. First was the love story between Carl and Ellie, then was the love story between Carl and life again — leading him to love not just the life in front of him but those he was able to experience it with.

Bringing these loveable characters back, the new short film attached to Elemental is titled Carl’s Date and will feature the dynamic duo as they attempt to prepare Carl for his first date since the passing of his wife, Ellie.

A teaser trailer for the short film dropped today, and it certainly is going to be a special treat.

“Miss Meyer likes me and wants to go out on a date. I don’t know how to date!” Carl tells Dug, and while the dog wants to help him, viewers soon realize that the two have very different ideas of fun. While Carl thinks it best to pick flowers for his upcoming romantic outing, Dug is confused as to why his partner-in-crime isn’t happy with just digging around in the dirt for the afternoon.

As Carl attempts to remember what it’s like to date, he has the perfect companion to help him through it. The dating world; it’s a mess — see what we did there?

Taking that first step is undoubtedly going to be an emotional one for Carl, and we can’t wait to see what happens in the short film Carl’s Date this weekend. Here’s to a new adventure with two of our favorite Disney characters and a new love story to enjoy.
