Major Lazer took over 2015 with “Lean On,” no question about it. Now, they’re riding the track’s success all the way into 2016 with a new VIP edit of the most Shazamed song of all-time.
The group just released the above teaser of the track’s newest incarnation, and it’s a stark contrast to the original. Already working on a follow up to Peace Is The Mission titled Music Is The Weapon, Major Lazer’s VIP offers a glimpse of the possible trajectory for their new material.
A slumping bassline with detuned dancehall bleeps categorize the “Lean On” VIP as a high energy mainstage weapon. From what we can tell, this remix sounds like a return to the older, riskier Major Lazer theme that we fell in love with.
