Pro-immigrant protestors clash with police, demand ‘beheading’ of ICE officers – but they refuse to stop

Does ICE not know people see them as Trump's goons?

Anti-ICE protesters in Portland, Oregon, clashed with law enforcement this week after bringing a full-sized guillotine to the federal immigration office, prompting a sharp response from ICE. The event took place on Labor Day, and video footage shows demonstrators burning a flag before the clashes began. According to an ICE spokesperson, the agency finds the behavior to be “unhinged” and the threats to be taken seriously.

The spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “For misguided protestors, who don’t have the first idea what the ICE mission is, to call for beheading officers is unhinged behavior.” However, this is likely a way to equate the Trump administration and ICE with the French Revolution. In that time, the people saw those in charge as tyrannical and deserving of revolutionary-style justice, since they would not listen to reason and continued to try to harm the regular people.

The situation escalated to a violent confrontation between police and protestors. Footage from the scene shows police trying to disperse the crowd, while protesters, some of whom were using riot shields to protect themselves, shouted insults like, “You are sad excuses for human beings!” and “You guys are violent, cowardly pigs!”

ICE is realizing that people don’t see them as heroes at all

The ICE spokesperson pointed out that assaults against their law enforcement officers have increased by 1,000% and that the men and women of ICE “put their lives on the line every day to arrest violent criminal illegal aliens to protect and defend the lives of American citizens.” They also added that politicians and activists “must turn the temperature down and tone down their rhetoric.” In other words, the spokesperson is calling for citizens to stop protesting so much, instead of trying to understand where they are coming from.

For his part, Portland’s Democratic Mayor Keith Wilson has vowed that local police will not assist ICE and is working with the Portland police to respond to the violent clashes outside the South Macadam Avenue facility. He told KOIN 6 News, “We will not engage with the federal immigration enforcement that goes on,” and that this is in line with the city’s “sanctuary city goals.” He added, “So you can rest assured we won’t be engaging with or working with ICE in any circumstances.”

ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan told Fox that they are “seeing historic threats against ICE officers,” but that it won’t deter them. “We will continue to go after these criminals, these alien criminals that have wreaked havoc on the American people over the last four years,” she said.
