The PlayStation 4’s Best Exclusive Games From E3 2016

Sony was a force to be reckoned with this year at E3, bombarding us with a diverse assortment of their upcoming exclusive titles. We’re happy to say that there are plenty of new IPs coming to the PS4 in the near future in addition to the expected sequels.

Spider-Man

The latest iteration of the popular franchise swung into E3 with unexpected polish and flair. By and large, superhero games have a poor reputation as uninspired cash grabs, but Spider-Man looked absolutely beautiful. Provided it’s handled well, it could prove to be another high point for the series.

The new trailer shows the famous webslinger sporting a new costume with a massive, white logo embossed across his front and back. The footage teased very fast gameplay, with Peter Parker zipping around Manhattan and scaling massive skyscrapers at an impressive speed. In a particularly exciting moment, our hero frantically runs through a restaurant, stepping on diner’s meals and knocking food and utensils astray.

As hard as it may be to believe, developer Insomniac has confirmed that the footage we’ve seen was created with the in-game engine and played on the original PS4, rather than the upcoming 4K system. That they’ve managed to maintain that flow during play is astonishing.

The key to any good Spider-Man experience is fluidity of motion, and if Insomniac was able to recapture or better yet, improve upon, the swinging mechanics of 2004’s Spider-Man 2, than we’re in for a treat. They have every reason to make sure it’s up to par, too, as Marvel Games has revealed that PS4’s Spider-Man is just the first step in bringing their colorful heroes to the consoles.
