Relive The Return Of Wally West With Titans Vol. 1

In the time since DC kicked off its Rebirth initiative, many compelling mysteries have arisen. Aside from the oversized DC Universe: Rebirth #1 one-shot written by Geoff Johns, many would probably agree with me in saying that another piece of required reading would be that of The Flash Vol. 1: Lightning Strikes Twice. But what may be just as important but possibly overlooked is that of Titans Vol. 1: The Return of Wally West.

Yes, Wally technically returned in the aforementioned one-shot, but it’s here where the ramifications are fully explored as well as the emotion that comes with. You have to admit that when you’ve been cast from the timestream for a number of years, it’s going to take a toll on you, superhero or not. But, luckily, he has friends to get him through.

And therein lies the beauty of this title: You get a matured, classic Titans lineup also consisting of Nightwing (back in black and blue, no less), Donna Troy, Tempest, Omen and Arsenal. Something those who have thus far sampled the series especially loved was the sense that these heroes aren’t just teammates – they’re family.

Although it’s revealed that antagonist Abra Kadabra was to blame for Wally’s removal from the timestream, eagle-eyed DC fans need to keep their eyes peeled throughout their reading experience as there are some nods to the growing enigma involving the Watchmen characters. Believe me, this is seemingly the closest thing we’ve gotten to answers while we wait for “The Button” to arrive.

Titans Vol. 1: The Return of Wally West – written by Dan Abnett and illustrated by Brett Booth – is now available in comic shops and bookstores everywhere.
