A DoorDash driver has been permanently banned after being caught on camera spraying pepper spray on a customer’s Arby’s order. The driver’s actions caused the customer to become violently sick right after she began eating the food.
According to the NY Post, Mark and Mandy Cardin ordered Arby’s through DoorDash to their home in Evansville, Indiana, on December 7, 2025. The delivery arrived just after midnight on Sunday. Everything looked normal when they brought the bag inside, completely unaware that the food had been tampered with.
Moments after Mandy started eating, she began struggling. Mark explained that she started choking and gasping. After only a couple of bites, she threw up because of the unknown substance in the food. Mark immediately started investigating what caused his wife’s sudden illness. He looked closely at the bag and noticed some kind of spray or residue on the packaging, confirming that someone had tampered with the order. That’s when he checked his doorbell camera footage.
The doorbell camera revealed a disturbing truth
The video showed the shocking truth. The driver, who had blue hair, was seen dropping off the order. She took the required photo and then reached into her pocket. She pulled out an object and sprayed the entire order before putting the spray back into her jacket and walking away.
“I had a look at the bag and seen that there was some kind of spray or something,” Mark said. “The bag had been tampered with. So I pulled up my doorbell camera and seen that the lady who dropped the food off had actually tampered with it on purpose for some reason.”
Mark tried to contact the driver through the app, but found that she had already blocked him. He immediately reported what happened to DoorDash and the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office. Mark and Mandy had left a tip for the driver and had never met her before, making the incident feel completely random.
Mark wants to see her prosecuted. He pointed out that while they think the substance was pepper spray, it could have been anything more dangerous, like rat poison or fentanyl. He said his wife could have died. This incident highlights growing concerns about delivery driver misconduct, with other DoorDash drivers facing legal troubles in recent months.
DoorDash took swift action once the footage surfaced. They permanently removed the driver from the platform. A DoorDash spokesperson said the company has “zero tolerance for this type of appalling behavior.”
They also said their team is ready to support law enforcement with any investigation. The company has faced criticism before for how they handle driver complaints and safety issues. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office has opened an official investigation. The driver could face charges of consumer product tampering, which is a Level 6 felony.
