A new arrangement with Universal Music Group and a lifesaving $35 million in funding has left SoundCloud in the clear with room to act on new ideas.

Their latest attempt to play catch up with competition is called ‘stations.’ The addition is only for the service’s Android and iOS apps, and it’s essentially the same thing as ‘related tracks’ on the desktop version. Users can now select a starting point, and SoundCloud will build a station to complement the chosen track, not unlike the same feature Spotify has been offering from the get-go.

While this is well and good news, the rumors of a paid subscription option will quite likely be realized in 2016, allowing users to ward off advertisements and the paid version might even include offline use. We’ll see what happens, but the new ‘stations’ feature is only the beginning of more SoundCloud renovation.

If you don’t already have it, the streaming service can be found on Google Play and the App Store.
