‘Talk to Me’ singer Tory Lanez rushed to hospital after prison yard stabbing

He was targeted on the yard.

Canadian singer Tory Lanez is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. Recently, he was stabbed in the prison yard at California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. He was quickly taken to a hospital in Bakersfield for treatment of his injuries, which officials say are not life-threatening.

According to TMZ, the stabbing took place just one week after Lanez shared a photo on social media showing off his muscular physique. This post appeared to hint at a possible new album release. The fact that the stabbing happened so soon after his social media post raises questions about whether his public activity may have influenced his interactions with other inmates.

As a former C/O, I can say that while stabbings are common, inmates don’t stab each other for no reason at all. There are a variety of reasons why it could have been, from debts to offenses taken, but this definitely was not a coincidence.

Lanez stabbed in prison by inmate

Lanez was originally sent to prison for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, a case that received widespread media coverage and sparked public anger. The shooting left Megan Thee Stallion seriously injured and led to a long legal dispute between the two artists. Lanez’s conviction came after a lengthy trial where different versions of events were presented about what led to the shooting.

The legal conflict between Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion has continued even while he is in prison. In December 2024, Megan Thee Stallion requested a restraining order against Lanez, claiming he was carrying out a campaign of “psychological warfare” against her. She accused him of organizing online attacks through a group of bloggers, who she said were spreading false information and harassing her online to harm her reputation.

Lanez’s legal team denied these claims, but the accusation adds more tension to the already troubled relationship between the two artists. The timing of these accusations, coming around the same time as Lanez’s possible album release, is also worth noting.

I don’t think that his issues with Megan had anything to do with what just happened. If inmates wanted to stab him for that, it would have been almost immediately after he entered prison. He may have inadvertently brought on this through regular prison politics among inmates.
