Taylor Swift fans grill her over ‘photoshop fail’ in new single’s artwork: ‘Girl, you’re a billionaire, please get a professional photographer’

The shade is real.

Taylor Swift has officially announced her brand new single Patient Zero, but the reveal has sparked a massive conversation among fans about the accompanying cover art. The singer shared the image on social media to confirm the track is arriving on September 25, but many followers were quickly distracted by what they described as a major Photoshop error, the Daily Mail reports.

The photo shows Swift leaning against a concrete wall while wearing a sleeveless black dress that reaches up to her neck. Fans immediately zoomed in on her arm area. It has become quite difficult for many to distinguish where her underarm ends and her side begins, leading to a wave of criticism regarding the editing process.

One fan wrote, “No shade, but they edited her armpit to HELL,” before adding, “I love Taylor, by the way.” Another user expressed their frustration by saying, “The Photoshop on Taylor Swift’s “Patient Zero” cover is horrendous… girl, you’re a billionaire, please get a professional photographer.” The feedback continued to pour in, with another person noting, “I’m so sorry but why does the side of her look so poorly edited? It looks way over-airbrushed.” Someone else even claimed that “they Photoshopped your shoulder out of existence.”

Despite the intense focus on the editing, some fans kept a positive attitude

One supporter commented, “The Photoshop is so horrendously bad, but god, Tay, you’ll shine through forever and always.” It is interesting to see the community react this way, especially since the buildup to this announcement was so intense.

The excitement started on September 22, when Swift’s website launched a mysterious two-hour countdown. Simultaneously, her social media profiles were updated to include the phrase “And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u” along with a fiery heart emoji. Naturally, this led to a frenzy of speculation.

Many people were convinced she was about to drop photos from her wedding to Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden. This theory gained traction because billboards in New York had been spotted reading “JUST&T MARRIED.” Others were certain she was announcing a deluxe version of her newest album or a surprise sister record, with one fan guessing the title might be “The Life of A Showgirl and it’s the death of a showgirl.”

Ultimately, the reveal focused on the music. Swift posted, “I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single “Patient Zero” will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours.” The title of the track might be a nod to a 2024 article in the LA Times that described Swift as “patient zero” for a contagion of emotions.
