‘Thank god’: Alabama woman fell asleep in her parked car for 20 minutes. A passing headlight woke her just in time to avoid death

Divine intervention.

An Alabama woman narrowly escaped death after a shooting left bullet holes in her parked car, with one bullet striking the driver’s headrest where her head had been resting just moments before. The woman, who has chosen to stay anonymous, shared a video of the incident online, showing the damage done to her car during the shooting.

She had been attending a family gathering and decided to take a 20-minute nap in her parked car. While she was asleep, another vehicle parked in front of her and turned on its headlights, which woke her up. As she sat up and moved her head, people outside opened fire, shattering the back windshield and hitting the driver’s headrest.

The woman believes that if she had not woken up and moved at that exact moment, she could have been killed. “Thank god I’m alive but a bullet really almost hit me while I was asleep,” she wrote in a comment under her Instagram video. She also said there were two bullet holes in the driver’s headrest, and another bullet hit the front windshield but did not fully go through the glass.

The passing headlight that saved her life was seen by many as a moment of divine protection

The video quickly drew a flood of reactions online, with many viewers expressing shock and relief. “There is no way to watch that video and not recognize the hand of God,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “Wow you have angels watching over you.”Glad the dash cam was recording.”

Others reflected on how differently the situation could have ended. One commenter wrote, “An angel pushed your head from the looks of it . 💙. I’ve been touched by an angel so I know it’s very possible.” The woman herself also spoke about how disoriented she was during the moment it happened, saying, “Being half asleep not know what is going on, I was so confused.”

The woman also put the incident into perspective with a simple but powerful comment about what mattered most. “Glass will be replaced, my life literally wouldn’t have been,” she said, summing up the reality of how close she came to losing her life over something as ordinary as taking a short nap.

Alabama has seen no shortage of shocking and unusual stories recently, including the case of an Alabama family dog repeatedly bringing home human remains that all turned out to be from the same victim. The incident has raised concerns about the dangers that can appear even in familiar and everyday situations.

The woman was simply resting at what appeared to be a routine family gathering, and yet she found herself in the middle of a life-threatening situation without any warning. Alabama has also been in the spotlight for other personal stories, such as a pregnant Alabama woman facing a serious health condition who chose to prioritize marriage before addressing her pregnancy.

An investigation into the shooting is ongoing. The woman’s story has continued to circulate widely online, with many people sharing it as an example of how quickly and unexpectedly dangerous situations can arise, and how a single, seemingly small moment, in this case, a passing headlight, can be the difference between life and death.
