The Clinton deposition was just getting started—then Lauren Boebert posted a leaked photo and sent everything into a tailspin

Hillary Clinton‘s deposition about Jeffrey Epstein was suddenly stopped just minutes after it started. The pause happened after a photo from inside the closed-door meeting was leaked to MAGA influencer Benny Johnson by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO). Sharing photos from these meetings goes against the rules set at the start of the proceedings.

According to Mediaite, Clinton adviser Nick Merrill confirmed the pause to reporters, saying that a photo had been shared on social media, which broke the established guidelines. He said the hearing was briefly on hold while officials worked to find out where the photo came from and why a member of Congress may have broken the rule. Merrill directed reporters to Benny Johnson’s feed to see the picture.

Johnson’s feed showed an image of what appeared to be a sullen Hillary Clinton. Johnson’s comment called it the “first image of Hillary Clinton testifying under oath about Jeffery Epstein to the Republican Oversight Committee.” He added that this was Clinton’s first time answering “real questions” about Epstein and that she didn’t look happy. Johnson explicitly credited Rep. Lauren Boebert for providing the photo.

The Epstein deposition carried on despite the chaos caused by the leaked photo

Later, Johnson posted again, calling the situation “insane” and noting that the deposition was being filmed. He also claimed Clinton had wanted the deposition to be broadcast live on TV and that the full session would be released soon. Ahead of the deposition, there were five key topics that could reveal more than the Clintons bargained for. Rep. Boebert herself responded to Johnson’s post, stating, “Benny did nothing wrong. Proceeding with deposition.”

The hearing, which took place in Chappaqua, New York, eventually resumed. During the session, Clinton requested that journalists be allowed into the room, a detail reported by MSNBC reporter Ali Vitali. However, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) rejected this request.

In her opening statement, Clinton criticized House Republicans on the committee for their handling of the Epstein case. She also firmly denied any association with Epstein, clarifying that she had never visited his private islands or any of his other residences. 

When the Clintons agreed to testify, Hillary made it clear they wouldn’t go down quietly. Looking ahead, her husband, former President Bill Clinton, is scheduled to sit for his own deposition on Friday.
