‘The Flash’ director landing another major project has fans worried for DC’s future

DC has spilled the tea on it's next Batman movie, but fans aren't pleased with the news!

The announcement of The Flash director Andy Muschietti being chosen to helm DC’s upcoming blockbuster Batman film came just hours ago, and social media reactions are emotionally charged — to say the least. Early reviews of The Flash have fans looking forward to more DC projects, and some are visibly upset with both the film and the decision to hire Muschetti again.

The new project will be based on Grant Morrison’s comic book series, which will be called Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The announcement was made public before box office results for The Flash even come in, and fans are speculating about the decision’s credibility.

While James Gunn and Peter Safran expressed their excitement about having Muschietti on board for the film in an interview with Variety, fans are finding it hard to see the decision as a fit for DC’s future. Gunn and Safran said:

‘We saw ‘The Flash’ even before taking the reins at DC Studios, and knew we were in the hands of not only a visionary director but a massive DC fan. It’s a magnificent film – funny, emotional, thrilling – and Andy’s affinity and passion for these characters and this world just resonates through every frame. So, when it came time to find a director for ‘The Brave and the Bold,’ there was really only one choice. Luckily, Andy said yes.’

Many fans have expressed their disappointment, as you can read below.

The Flash has been heavily criticized for its poor CGI by both fans and critics, and the film has also been a subject of controversy surrounding the casting of Ezra Miller as the titular character. Amidst all the negative PR the film is getting, the decision to let Muschietti take control of DC’s future is disappointing and concerning to fans. Echoing the bad CGI reviews, one fan reacted to the news with a hilarious meme,

While some fans still agree that The Flash wasn’t half as bad as people are describing it, and it’s just a recency bias, other reactions to the news are definitely not working in favor of future successes. The tweets are disbelieving of the decision and responded with some hilarious comments.

Whether these reactions are fuelled by the current controversies surrounding The Flash is unclear, but fans are giving a definitive no-go to Batman: The Brave and the Bold going to the hands of Andy Muschietti.

The project will be produced by Muschietti’s sister and creative partner, Barbara, via their label Double Dream, alongside Gunn and Safran. The project is currently in a developmental state, with no official screenwriter, cast, or release schedule. Nevertheless, seeing Muschietti’s take on Batman will be interesting if the project becomes a reality.
