During a Nintendo Direct video broadcast this morning, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime announced that The Last Story will be released for the Wii in North America in 2012.  An exact launch date was not given, but Reggie did reveal that they have partnered with XSEED Games to publish the title.

The Last Story was one of three Japanese Wii titles that sparked Operation Rainfall last year, which is an ongoing fan-driven campaign to bring Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora’s Tower to the North American market. With two of the three games having now been announced for release, efforts to bring Pandora’s Tower to the West are sure to intensify.
