‘This is my last warning’:Donald Trump promises a breakthrough ‘very soon’ in his latest attempt to solve the Israel-Hamas war

Trump won't give another warning to Hamas.

In a sudden turn of events, President Donald Trump has issued what he’s calling a “last warning” to Hamas, demanding the group accept a U.S.-backed proposal to release the remaining hostages from Gaza. Trump, who has been working to get a breakthrough in the conflict, said he believes a deal will happen “very soon”. Speaking to reporters after attending the U.S. Open final, he also claimed that Israel has already endorsed the proposal.

According to NBC News, this isn’t the first time Trump has given a stern warning to Hamas, but this time around, the pressure seems to be at a fever pitch. On his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote, “Everyone wants the Hostages HOME. Everyone wants this War to end!” before adding that the Israelis have “accepted my Terms”.

He then gave his ultimatum: “It is time for Hamas to accept as well. I have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!”

Trump sends another warning to Hamas

While the White House hasn’t officially revealed the specific terms of the deal, reports from Israel’s News suggest a massive exchange is on the table. According to these reports, all 48 remaining hostages, living or dead, would be freed on the first day of a truce. In exchange, Israel would release thousands of Palestinian prisoners.

If the deal goes through, it would also mean Israel would halt its plan to take control of Gaza City, with negotiations to end the war beginning under Trump’s direct oversight. This is huge, as Israel’s offensive to capture the city has been ongoing for some time, displacing hundreds of thousands of people who have already been uprooted multiple times during the conflict.

It’s a “hell of a problem,” as Trump put it, but one he believes they can “get done”. On the other hand, Hamas has a slightly different take. The group said it has received “some ideas” from the U.S. through mediators and is working to “develop these ideas into a comprehensive agreement”.

They’ve also reiterated their own demands, which include “a clear declaration of an end to the war” and a “full withdrawal” of Israeli forces from Gaza. It seems like a back-and-forth situation, where each side is trying to get its demands met, but the pressure from all sides is mounting.

The situation is incredibly tense. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a “final warning” of his own, demanding Hamas release the hostages and lay down arms, or Gaza will be destroyed. Meanwhile, Benny Gantz, a rival of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, publicly urged for the deal to be accepted, calling on opposition parties to give “all the necessary political backing”. It feels like night and day when you compare the public statements from different leaders, even on the same side, which just goes to show how complex this whole situation is.

The whole thing started after the October 7, 2023, attacks, which killed 1,200 people and led to about 250 being taken hostage. Since then, Palestinian health officials say that Israeli forces have killed more than 64,000 people in Gaza and destroyed most of the buildings and infrastructure.

With only 20 of the 48 remaining hostages believed to be alive, it’s a high-stakes situation. “I think we’re going to get them all,” Trump said, referring to the remaining hostages, dead or alive. The hope is that this new push, with Trump’s “last warning” and the reported Israeli acceptance of the terms, will finally bring a resolution to the nearly two-year war.
