TikToker acts out his parents in a skit about life in the past. Then he starts listing his retirement plans: ‘I’m getting a billion pounds a year’

A TikTok gem.

George Olney dropped a hilarious skit on TikTok that highlights the massive gap between the life his parents enjoyed at age 22 and the reality many of us face today, Daily Dot reports. The video has already racked up about 1.7 million views and 215,800 likes.

The video kicks off with the creator tackling the housing market. He mimics his parents, saying, “I’m just gonna go buy a house for 20 grand,” followed by, “Job done, mate.” It is honestly wild to think about buying a three-bedroom semi-detached home for that price. He even throws in a casual offer for a spare Beatles ticket for a tenner, which feels like a total fever dream compared to today’s ticket prices.

Things get even crazier when he moves on to car ownership. He acts out the process of buying a vehicle, counting out a small stack of cash and saying, “20, 40, 60, 80, 100.” When the topic of a driving license comes up, he brushes it off by saying, “Nah, don’t worry about it, mate.” He even jokes that seat belts aren’t necessary because “We are invincible.”

The skit doesn’t stop there, as he dives into the diet and fashion of the era

He asks who wants a bad haircut and suggests a mullet. His food choices are equally wild, listing off butter, a whole container of milk, a bottle of wine, marmalade, and a potato. He asks, “What’s cholesterol?” and wonders, “I won’t have health problems in the future if I eat all that, will I?” He even offers “a whole cake with some butter on top,” which is definitely a bold culinary strategy.

When it comes to career paths, the creator portrays his parents as people who skipped college entirely. He answers “Nah” when asked about higher education and notes that everyone back then just had O levels. He then says, “I’m getting a billion pounds a year,” and adds, “I can retire age 42 and my pension is 10 grand a day.” He caps off this segment by mentioning he is thinking about a holiday home in France, and when asked how he knows the language, he replies, “I’ve got an O level in it.”

The video wraps up with some vacation planning, where he asks, “Hands up if you wanna go to Majorca,” and notes the price for the whole trip was 40. His reaction is simply, “Sweet.” He also cracks a joke about how he would be upset if someone invented the internet and “double angry” if anyone mocked him on it. He ends the skit by telling the group, “Come on, let’s all go and use payphones.”

The comment section has been just as active as the video itself. One viewer joked, “Should’ve started saving for a house during conception. Instead I was just floating around.” Another commenter shared a wild story about their grandfather, writing, “My grandfather got a house built for him with the £300 gifted to him by the church as a ‘golden hello,'” adding that “Now people do it for free.”

Someone else shared a frustrating reality about a Welsh cottage, noting, “My mum bought her cottage in north Wales for £8000… It’s just sold for £460,000 MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.”
