We all knew this day would come. Though, perhaps not this soon. The aliens have scheduled their digital invasion of earth for October 26, which is when War of the Worlds will become available on Xbox LIVE Arcade.

Based on the incredibly frightening science-fiction novel by H.G. Wells, the game places its players into the midst of an alien invasion. Gameplay takes the form of a side-scrolling platformer, which should be quite interesting. All of this is complemented with a stylish and creative art style, which mixes black and white with colour and uses shadows quite well.

The news was announced through developer Other Ocean‘s Facebook page. You may remember them as being the ones who handled such digital releases as the Mortal Kombat Kollection, Dark Void Zero and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PSN port.)

A PlayStation Network release date for War of the Worlds has yet to be announced. Keep checking back for more information on that. We’ll have it for you when it becomes available.
