Afroman v a bunch of crybaby cops with hurt feelings may not be the trial of the century, but it’s certainly provided a lot of amusement over the last few days.
The story begins in Aug. 2022 when Adams County Sheriff’s deputies in Ohio raided Afroman’s home, smashing down the door with guns drawn, apparently hoping to find a major drug operation. They found nothing of note, though left with $4000 of Afroman’s cash and a vape pen. No criminal charges were filed.

The cops hit back with a lawsuit alleging defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, claiming they were left humiliated and distressed by Afroman.
Afroman didn’t take this lying down, fighting the case with the basic arguments that “They never should have came to my house in the first place” and that he was totally within his First Amendment rights to release these songs. Now, after a deeply amusing trial in which the deputies sobbed as Afroman’s songs were played in court, the verdict is in!

It seems that this is a rare circumstance in which the entire nation was united behind Afroman, regardless of political views. The left saw a Black artist unfairly victimized by cops, the right saw a flagrant attack on freedom of speech, and all agreed that Afroman’s songs striking back against the deputies were absolutely hilarious.
Here’s hoping Afroman can translate this wave of goodwill into a career boost. And who knows, maybe that run for the presidency might not be such a pipe dream?
