The title of the Shazam! sequel very much gives away the villains that Billy Batson and his family will be facing off against in their latest outing, (as does all of the trailers and promotional materials), but there may be a point of curiosity as to who exactly the Gods being brought to life by Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, and Rachel Zegler.

In Shazam! Fury of the Gods, our rag-tag team of super-children faces the wrath of the Daughters of Atlas, three deities who have been around for thousands of years and are looking to reclaim the power that has been stolen from them by humanity, and restore glory to the realm of the Gods.

They were released upon the world when the magic staff was broken in two in the These villains are original characters introduced in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and are more or less plucked straight out of Greek mythology and, as is Mount Olympus – the place where they reside within the otherworldly dimension outside of humanity’s plane of existence. The eldest of the Daughters of Atlas is played by Helen Mirren and is the apparent leader of the trio and primary wielder of the magic staff, which can take away Billy’s (and his family’s) powers in the blink of an eye if they are not careful. She also possesses immense strength. Hespera’s primary goal is the restoration of the realm of the gods and is a more level-headed agent of chaos than her sister, Kalypso.

Kalypso is the middle child of three daughters, played by Lucy Liu. She is also the most chaotic of the sisters, possessing the ability to commandeer the minds of her victims and bend them to their will, which is how she succeeds in getting the wizard to repair the magic staff and interrogates Freddy to discover the identities of the other family members who possess the power of Shazam.

Kalypso is the most vengeful of the trio and would be more than happy to watch humanity burn after being locked away in the realm of the gods for centuries.

Anthea

The youngest and kindest of the trio played by Rachel Zegler, Anthea doesn’t share her siblings’ thirst for vengeance against humanity and would prefer to restore the realm of the gods without needless violence. She develops a soft spot for Freddy after disguising herself as a high-school student, and as such, ends up helping him to the best of her abilities by mitigating Hespera and Calypso’s warpath. She possesses the ability to rapidly rearrange spacetime, one that she uses to impede the path of pursuers.
