‘Who’s paying that hospital bill?’: Guest takes a sip at fancy hotel bar, then realizes what was in their glass and has to leave in an ambulance

A guest was sitting at the Pfister Hotel bar in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when they took a sip of their drink. Something immediately felt wrong. They felt something sharp scratch the back of their throat.

According to Bro Bible, TikToker KProminence (@kingprominence) shared a video on TikTok that has gotten over 149,000 views. In the clip, they grab their throat while sitting at the bar. “I’m really concerned,” they say. “I just swallowed glass at Pfister.”

They say they pulled out a large piece of glass that came through the straw of their drink. They told the manager right away to file an incident report. “There should not be glass in my cup. And the fact that I felt it scratch my throat, y’all. They’re calling the ER,” they explain.

Going to the emergency room for swallowing glass is sometimes necessary

The next clip shows KProminence sitting in an ambulance on the way to the emergency room to get checked for swallowing glass. The caption says, “Who paying that ambulance and hospital bill??? Yall not tryna respond now.” They also claim the bar didn’t check their ID, raising concerns that someone underage could have swallowed the glass.

Whether you need to go to the ER after finding glass in your food or drink depends on the size and how sharp it is. Small pieces should pass through without hurting the throat or digestive system. If no injury happens after swallowing a tiny piece, Poison Control says to watch for symptoms like bloody stools, fever, chills, or pain.

However, if someone thinks the glass was sharp enough to scratch them or felt a sharp edge while swallowing, they should get checked by a doctor. In serious cases, doctors may need to surgically remove the glass to prevent it from puncturing important organs. This isn’t the first time paramedics were called for an unusual emergency, though the circumstances vary widely.

In a follow-up video posted more than a month after the incident, the TikToker says the Pfister Hotel has not responded to their messages. They share that the hospital gave them “two radiation screenings.” KProminence writes, “I’m not fine. I’m still highly upset and have medical bills.”

Many viewers in the comments suggested getting a lawyer. “Med bills are all absolutely on them. Someone broke a glass and didn’t notice or didn’t care. Everywhere I’ve worked if glass breaks even near ice I pour grenadine on it to mark it for burning in case I have to step away before I can finish cleaning it out,” one viewer wrote. 

The TikToker claimed the restaurant offered to cover the hospital bill when they first spoke to management. Stories of people needing emergency medical attention unexpectedly often highlight how quickly situations can escalate.
