The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings To Unveil Modding Tools At Gamescom

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings may have released to almost universal acclaim, but it is arguably the post-release attention that CD Projekt RED have given their spectacular RPG sequel that impresses the most. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings may have released to almost universal acclaim, but it is arguably the post-release attention that CD Projekt RED have given their spectacular RPG sequel that impresses the most. Following the release of the ‘Enhanced Edition‘, a substantial yet free update, it has now been revealed that modding tools will soon be made available for the PC version of the game.

According to an announcement on the official site, CD Projekt RED will be attending Gamescom next week and hosting exclusive media presentations unveiling the REDkit. Whilst details are currently somewhat sparse, this kit will provide players the tools required to create new, non-linear adventures using the awe-inspiring assets of The Witcher 2.

One of the strengths of the PC as a platform is undoubtedly the modding communities that, when given even a modicum of creative freedom, thrive. Whilst CD Projekt RED are pitching this REDkit at players as opposed to modders specifically, I suspect that it will follow the accessible but incredibly deep model offered by the likes of the Portal 2 editor and produce equally as incredible results.
