Yellowstone‘s exciting fifth season kicked off last night on Paramount, and the ratings show that the Dutton family isn’t short on power, passion, or popularity. The Kevin Costner-led drama is still as exciting as it is emotionally charged, and the story showrunner Taylor Sheridan is telling shows no signs of slowing down.

Deadline reports that the target audience for the series has grown in the key demographic areas, and for loyal fans of the show, that news isn’t surprising. With each new episode, Yellowstone continues telling a multifaceted story, and fans can’t imagine the pop culture realm without the Dutton family.

“Viewership went up 52% in adults 18-34 (2.53 Live+Same Day vs. 1.67) compared with the Season 4 premiere, and up 22% in adults 18-49 (3.96 L+SD vs. 3.26). It was also up 13% in adults 25-54 (5.48 L+SD vs. 4.85) and 10% in total viewers (8.8 million vs. 8 million).”

It’s also worth noting that 12 million plus viewers tuned in to watch the season premiere; that’s a massive and invested audience.

The premiere was packed full of high emotions as we saw John Dutton swear in as Governor of Montana, Kayce and Monica suffer a devastating loss, Rip and Beth prepare for a painful future, and Caroline Warner call for backup in the form of bombshell Sarah Atwood.

That summary isn’t even a condensed version of what unfolded last night, and we know that the future for Yellowstone is bright; they do have an incinerator this season after all. Hey, with John Dutton serving as Governor of Montana, they’ve got to get creative regarding the train station.
