Variety shared the news of Garrett Hedlund joining the cast of Bass Reeves, and he’s no stranger to Sheridan and his work ethic, style, and magnificence. In fact, another series from the talented showrunner, Tulsa King, sees Hedlund as Mitch Keller. Keller is a bull rider and bartender in Oklahoma, so he already knows how to play a cowboy-esque character quite well.

In an Instagram post just two days ago, Hedlund posted an image that left fans guessing what project he might be teasing; today’s confirmation is exactly where fans were hoping the talented actor would end up. We want to see him in a Dutton-adjacent role, if not as a Dutton family member.

Variety also gave fans a hint of detail regarding Hedlund’s role in the Yellowverse, and it seems like he’s a man who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid of a little trouble.

“Garrett Montgomery; a so-called posse man of the era who Bass hires for his riding know-how and expertise of the area.”

Hedlund joins the already announced and ever-talented David Oyelowo, who leads the charge as bass Reeves alongside Dennis Quaid, Barry Pepper, Grantham Coleman, Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, and Lauren E. Banks. There is no official release date for the series yet, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we find out more.

Until then, you can watch Dutton family prequels 1883 and 1923 streaming on Paramount Plus now and check out the first four seasons of Yellowstone on Peacock. Here’s to more Dutton glory, drama, and adventure.
