Yes, Deathstroke Is Actually Forming A Superhero Team This Summer

Not long ago, we reported on Christopher Priest taking Deathstroke in a bold new direction beginning in July. Seeing as how Slade Wilson’s solo series has had a mature, HBO-style dramatic tone to it, it had us wondering if it’d be lightened up or we’d get a more popcorn, action-heavy book.

As it turns out, the new direction is much bolder than we imagined. Seriously, did any of us foresee Deathstroke forming a team of superheroes? I didn’t think so.

Uniting the likes of Terra with his children, Rose and Jericho, in addition to former Teen Titans in Power Girl and Kid Flash, one has to wonder just what the events to be witnessed in the forthcoming crossover, “The Lazarus Contract,” will yield. But as thought provoking as this may seem, it’s hard to shake the fact that certain aspects of said crossover have now been spoiled.

For one, the resurrection of Jericho has been confirmed and, two, spoiling Kid Flash leaving the Teen Titans is a pretty big deal, because he’s been one of the cornerstones of Benjamin Percy’s current run. What motivated him to do so will be one reason to keep reading, but this does seem like it could prove to be a divisive move.

Trumping all that is what exactly will happen to Slade in the Speed Force to make him not only change his outlook on life, but his fashion sense as well. Although he’s sticking with a two-tone look, it remains to be seen why he’s elected to start wearing a cape and dressing himself and his cohorts like White Lanterns.
