After Marjorie Taylor Greene released a video statement resigning from Congress, Donald Trump is suddenly being nice to her. In fact, he claimed he’d love to see her return to politics sometime in the future.
While most political feuds end after badmouthing or changing parties, the Trump-Greene one led to a surprising resignation. On Saturday, Nov. 22, Greene announced on X that she’s putting a full stop to her 5-year political career. This means the Congress will see the last of her as a representative in January 2026.
Hours after she announced her resignation, Trump commented that “it’s great news for the country.” But you’ll never see a man flip as fast as the president of the United States. On the same afternoon, while speaking to reporters, Trump called Greene a “nice person,” claiming, “I just disagreed with her philosophy.”
Trump said he’s hopeful about MTG returning to politics someday
The real surprise came a day later when Trump spoke to NBC News on a phone interview. He still agreed with Greene’s decision, saying, “She’s got to take a little rest.” But, he also claimed that it would be nice to see her revive her career someday. “It’s not going to be easy for her,” he said, before adding how he’d “love to see that.”
During the same call, Trump also insisted that he “can patch up differences with anyone,” should Greene return. His words come as a surprise, given that a major reason behind her resignation was Trump’s constant verbal attacks on her.
The Trump-Greene feud timeline
Cracks in the dynamic between Trump and Greene first appeared after she expressed discontent with Trump’s foreign policy. She digressed from his position regarding Israel, condemned the strikes in Iran, and opposed his H-1B visa policy. The crack deepened during the shutdown, when she claimed that Republicans are equally responsible for the shutdown.
Greene also criticized Speaker Mike Johnson on the Republican healthcare plan on multiple occasions. But the issue that burned the bridge between the two MAGA players was the Epstein Files. The president called Greene a “traitor” after she went against his wishes and pushed for the release of the infamous files.
She joined a petition with other members of Congress to force the Justice Department to release these files. Following her constant push for the Epstein agenda, Trump formally withdrew his endorsement of Greene. Calling her a “ranting lunatic” and “wacky,” he attacked Greene on his Truth Social and claimed she has “lost her way.”
After Greene revealed to the press that she’s receiving violent threats from MAGA goons inspired by Trump’s post, he dismissed her, saying, “nobody cares about her.” This was when she snapped and had had enough of it. She accused Trump of “trying to destroy” her in her resignation video, and decided to end her political career for her and her family’s safety and well-being.
Hopefully, she won’t take Trump’s latest statement as a sign to come back.
