‘All they do is fail, fail, fail’: Marjorie Taylor Greene done with Republican Party after mountain of broken promises

I'm sure they're sad to see her go.

There are few creatures more debased, humiliated, and craven than the Republicans who follow Trump like obedient lapdogs. These are men and women who clearly personally despise Trump, but have sold their morality and dignity to him to keep their personal gravy train rolling.

That’s perhaps never more apparent than right now. The current crop of MAGA Republicans were in lockstep behind Trump for years about the idiocy of Bush-era neocons and their costly and disastrous forever wars, claiming that Kamala Harris was about to start World War III and cheering as Trump promised “no new wars!” How’s that working out for you?

One of those was Marjorie Taylor Greene, who swallowed all of Trump’s lies with the credulity of a true believer. But the attempted cover-up of the Epstein files was too much for her to tolerate, and, having quit DC, she’s now morphed into a MAGA thorn in Trump’s side. Now, as per her latest post, she’s effectively disavowed the entire Republican Party:

It was all so easy and Trump and Republicans just went and F’d it all up. We voted to lower gas prices, inflation, cost of groceries, and housing. We voted to hold people accountable for lawfare, deadly open borders, covid crimes. We voted for no more foreign wars, no more regime change, and to stop paying for foreign wars.

I vastly prefer this Marjorie Taylor Greene to the one we had just a year ago but, just because she’s now opposed to Trump, she’s not worthy of admiration. After all, she’s effectively admitting that she was totally bamboozled by Donald “the world’s most notorious liar” Trump.

The Libertarian Party beckons!

Greene goes on to detail how Trump has betrayed the MAGA faithful, how the current Republicans are legislatively incompetent, and underlines that they are liars who do the opposite of what they promised during a campaign. Well, I guess she got there in the end.

So, apparently, this is it for Green’s days of voting Republican. As she concludes:

“I won’t vote for Democrats but I sure as hell won’t vote for a bunch of Republicans that lie on the campaign trail and refuse to do what they promised when they get into office. And for the love of God, why can’t you useless politicians at least try to lower the cost of health insurance. Just try. But they won’t. All they do is fail, fail, fail because it is all designed to fail.”

So where next for Marjorie? Well, I’ve long suspected she’s biding her time until the Trump administration catastrophically fails, allowing her to swoop back into politics with a (credible) argument to MAGA that only she will never compromise her principles. But, more realistically, I’m sure the Libertarian Party will be happy to have her.
