As Trump’s health continues to be questioned, his diet gets exposed — even McDonald’s employees are stunned

Trump still insists that his health remains “perfect.”

Donald Trump’s health has been a cause of great concern during his second term. As things stand, he is the oldest president in the history of the United States at the time of his inauguration. Understandably, after strange wounds on his hand and dozing off during televised meetings, people have started questioning whether Trump is still up to the job. New reports, however, suggest that we should instead look at his diet if we want answers.

Trump has had one of the busiest first years in office in recent memory. Domestically, he has navigated internal politics — at times contravening the Constitution — issued a record number of executive orders, and handed out pardons at a pace never before seen. Internationally, Trump has been even busier — ending wars in the Middle East while simultaneously starting others. And that’s not even to mention his controversial strikes on Venezuelan tankers.

Over the last couple of months, particularly since August 2025, Trump’s hand started developing a scar. When asked about the cause, the president and his aides claimed it was from taking a lot of aspirin. And when pictures of him sleeping during meetings began circulating in the press, he explained that he was merely taking long blinks.

Trump has long been associated with his love of fast food. A highlight of this obsession was when he invited the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision champions, North Dakota State, to the White House and served them french fries, Big Macs, and Chick-fil-A sandwiches. The infamous picture of Trump standing next to piles of burgers and sandwiches has persisted online, with critics seeing it as a testament to his sometimes ludicrous nature.

It turns out, however, Trump wasn’t being cheap — that is literally just how he eats in real life. According to People, Republican National Committee Chairman Joe Gruters said he witnessed Trump consuming an outrageous meal during the 2024 election campaign. Gruters recalled it consisted of “hot fries waiting for him from McDonald’s. Then he had a Filet-O-Fish, a Quarter Pounder, and a Big Mac.”

Trump has explained his eating habits and preference for McDonald’s as being more about hygiene and safety than anything else. He once told CNN’s Anderson Cooper during a 2016 town hall: “I’m a very clean person. I like cleanliness. And I think you’re better off going there than someplace that you maybe have no idea where the food is coming from. It’s a certain standard. But I think the food is good.”

The high-calorie diet is considered by medical experts to be unhealthy, especially at his age. But it goes without saying that Trump and his administration do not necessarily hold medical professionals in high regard when it comes to health advice. And if you were hoping the president at least worked off all that high-calorie, low-nutrient food, think again — he has called exercise too “boring” to engage in. Perhaps that’s why he was so concerned with the supposed “fat shot” that an unnamed friend of his is apparently on.

Trump shared that his love for the franchise has even once stunned McDonald’s employees, particularly when he visited during his campaign. He recalled the experience: “So they drive up, like just, they look over. Whoa!… Every one of them, it was, the response was incredible. Almost like I knew I was gonna win when I saw that.”
