Bernie Sanders rips Trump: If he wants Greenland, he should start by giving Americans what Greenlanders already have

Bernie Sanders always tells it like it is.

The people of Greenland are no doubt living a much better life than that of the average American citizen. So that begs the question, is Donald Trump willing to provide that same life for those people and the people of America? That’s the question Bernie Sanders dared to ask.

For those who don’t know, Greenlanders receive a wide variety of benefits from the Danish government. Some of these benefits include: free healthcare and college education, 52 weeks paid parental leave, 5 weeks paid vacation, and much more in terms of investment in the country. If Donald Trump were to take Greenland then the financial burden that Denmark is currently paying would be huge.

In a post to X, Bernie Sanders claimed that Trump should only seize Greenland if he can provide for the people of America the same way the Danish government does.

Considering how many Americans don’t get anywhere near this level of benefits from their government it’s no wonder the people of Greenland aren’t interested in being bought. There is no free healthcare in the U.S, there is no mandatory holiday allowance, only 12 weeks for parental leave (and it’s unpaid), and free college education? You can forget that idea entirely.

Bernie’s demands seem fair

Considering how preposterous Trump’s demands are for Greenland this seems like a fair request to make. If Trump can’t provide for his own people the same way Denmark does for Greenland then he should shut his mouth and maybe reassess his priorities. At the very least he needs to get his own home in order before he starts looking for other lands to conquer.

Many on X agreed with Sanders’ argument but others took issue with him claiming everything was free when in reality it’s paid for by Danish taxpayers. But again, the Danish government chooses to keep Greenland despite the cost, will American taxpayers be so happy to see their money going to people from another country when they get no benefits? Or will Trump choose to take away the privileges the people of Greenland currently enjoy? Something tells me that won’t go down too well.

Realistically we know Donald Trump would never even consider Bernie’s demand, not that he could achieve such a monumental task anyway. It’s about as unrealistic as demanding a whole other country to be absorbed into your own.

Anyways, the people of Greenland have made it clear, they are happy with their current arrangement with Denmark. While many would like to see independence, they’d certainly choose Danish rule over American. Trump wouldn’t be able to give the people of Greenland the same quality of life they currently have but it’s obvious he doesn’t care about that. His only goal is getting his hands on the natural resources that can be found there.
