Despite the ongoing furor surrounding Donald Trump’s indictment, it doesn’t look like he’s going to be doing a perp walk this week after all. The Manhattan grand jury didn’t meet yesterday and may not meet today, potentially leaving the nation in full “blue balls” mode over the weekend.
Fortunately, Trump’s most deranged cheerleader Marjorie Taylor Greene is right here to keep us entertained with her ramblings on Twitter. The representative for Georgia’s 14th congressional district has returned to that classic bugbear of far-right conspiracy theorists, and promised to launch a full investigation into Hunter Biden “taking millions from China” and “payments to young prostitutes”.
Clearly Greene has been studying the work of Chairman Mao, who stated that “the only real defense is active defense.” Biden’s supposed criminal activity has been picked over by Republicans for years to little effect, with the only real impact being that it tends to humanize the President as many can sympathize with him for having a wayward son or daughter that they can still love.
It’s pretty clear Greene’s true objective is to “both sides” this argument as hard as she possibly can. Greene is always eager to present herself as a good, god-fearing Christian, so it’s a teeny bit awkward that the man she wholeheartedly supports is in deep trouble for making secret hush money payments to a porn star after an extramarital affair.
As the hours roll on and Manhattan remains on a state of high alert for the chaos that’d inevitably follow the sight of Trump in handcuffs, expect the accusations against Democrats (or the family members of Democrats) to grow ever more lurid. After all, no matter what extremely heinous stuff Trump got off to, in her eyes the Democrats must always – always – be worse.
