‘Do I have to stay until I’m assassinated?’: Marjorie Taylor Greene addresses calls for her to serve full term

Marjorie Taylor Greene announced her retirement from politics on Saturday last week. However, she hasn’t held back on social media since then to ensure Americans are hooked to her.

On Nov. 25, Greene posted yet another political musing on her X. However, one comment on her seemingly goodwill post quickly sent her on an angry rant. “You need to serve out your full term,” the user wrote. According to the U.S. House rules, Greene’s current term was set to end in Jan. 2027. But, after announcing her resignation, she will leave office in Jan. 2026.

The user asserted that Greene should serve her full two years. But after facing the frustrations that led to her difficult decision to resign, she wasn’t going to let the user have their way. “Oh, I haven’t suffered enough for you while you post all day behind a screen?” she replied to them. Going fully offensive, she continued,

Do I have to stay until I’m assassinated like our friend Charlie Kirk. Will that be good enough for you then? Shit posting on the internet all day isn’t fighting. Get off YOUR ass and run for Congress.

Greene asserted to the user that she has “fought harder than anyone in the real arena, not social media.” Suggesting that they get off their phone, she said, “Put down your little pebbles and put your money where your mouth is.” Her reply reiterated what she discussed in her original post.

The congresswoman originally just shared her two cents on the recent controversy involving MAGA accounts based in foreign countries. “Only 20% of Americans are on X,” she wrote, saying, “this is where the Political Industrial Complex controls a hive mind with hyper-partisan politics.”

Greene stressed the fact that social media is “toxic, hateful, and divisive.” She reminded people that these “paid” and “foreign” accounts “post and comment all day with targeted talking points” to manipulate opinions. The crux of her post was to remind people to live in reality, which exists “without a phone, tablet, or computer.”

Real life is tangible, involves relationships with people, productive work, and all the fun amazing adventures the beautiful world has to offer. Real life among common Americans is what holds this country up and where the solutions for our future reside.

People are taking Greene’s crashout at the user’s comment as a testimony of how much she really suffered. Even in her resignation announcement video, she shared that she has been receiving violent threats from angry MAGA goons. However, some see her online rants as an attempt to gain sympathy.
