DOJ thought they redacted the Epstein files, but users discovered a simple trick that reveals everything they tried to hide

They did a really sloppy job here.

People online have found an incredibly easy way to see the hidden parts of the Jeffrey Epstein documents that were just released. The Department of Justice tried to black out sensitive information, but the method they used completely failed. The workaround is so simple that anyone can do it in seconds.

The DOJ is releasing hundreds of thousands of documents about the convicted sex offender. They used Adobe Acrobat to black out parts they wanted to keep secret. But there’s a huge problem. According to the NY Post, if you copy the blacked-out text and paste it into Google Docs or Microsoft Word, the original text shows up completely uncensored.

This discovery has created a huge reaction online. Social media user Jake Broe showed everyone how to do it publicly. He posted on X that anyone can read the redacted parts by copying and pasting them into a word document. “The people at Trump’s Justice Department are so stupid they used Adobe Acrobat to black out the documents,” he said.

Someone clearly forgot to check the export settings

The documents started coming out on Friday after President Trump signed a bipartisan law. This law forced the DOJ to hand over all unclassified records and materials related to the billionaire sex criminal. Congress wanted everything released by Friday, but the DOJ said the remaining files will come out gradually over time. The agency has claimed they’re redacting information to protect victims, though many question this justification.

Even though the release is happening slowly, the files have already shown shocking photos that nobody has seen before. These pictures show Epstein with many famous people, including major celebrities and politicians. Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, who used to be Prince Andrew, appears in some photos. So do Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson.

Many of the new photos focus on Clinton. One picture shows him half-naked in a jacuzzi with a woman who hasn’t been identified. Other photos show him swimming with Ghislaine Maxwell, who is Epstein’s ex-girlfriend and was convicted for her crimes.

He was also photographed with his arm around an unidentified woman on a plane. The documents show Clinton traveled with Epstein to Brunei, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. There’s even evidence of a 2002 trip where Clinton brought both Epstein and Maxwell as his guests to a wedding for Morocco’s King Mohammed VI. Another photo shows Clinton, Epstein, and others having dinner with the Rolling Stones singer.

The release also included thousands of photos of Maxwell. President Trump appears in both old and new images. The DOJ quickly defended Trump, saying any speculation about him in these files is false and without basis. However, previously released documents revealed that even Epstein had negative opinions about Trump.

Clinton has always denied doing anything wrong related to Epstein’s crimes. But his team pushed back hard against how the Trump administration handled this release. Clinton’s representative, Angel Ureña, made a strong statement pointing out that many documents are still sealed.

“What the Department of Justice has released so far, and the manner in which it did so, makes one thing clear: someone or something is being protected,” Ureña said. “We do not know whom, what or why. But we do know this: We need no such protection.”

Public interest in this case grew even more after the FBI and DOJ released a memo in July. That memo said Epstein killed himself in jail and that he never kept a list of powerful clients, despite what many people believed.
