Donald Trump does what he does best – sums up death of 2 students in Brown University shooting in three heartless words

Can he do anything right?!

In times of national tragedy, the nation turns its eyes to the president for reassurance. Unfortunately for America, Donald Trump is in the White House, and while he does a great job at incoherent rage, leading a nation in mourning isn’t exactly in his skill set.

And so, after the weekend’s tragic shooting at Brown University that resulted in the death of two students and the injury of nine, Trump gave us pretty much what we expect from him. His summation of events: “Things can happen”.

Powerful words Mr President. Things can, indeed, happen. I’m sure the families of those involved will take solace from that observation.

“Things can happen. So, uh, to the nine injured. Get well fast and to the families of those who are no longer with us I pay my deepest regards and respects from the United States of America.”

This is pretty typical of the checked-out “Weekend Trump”, who always looks miserable and tired when he’s called in to do something presidential on a Saturday or Sunday. Don’t they know he has golf to play?!

And they still don’t have a suspect!

In a disturbing twist, the Brown University shooter appears to be still at large! Last night, cops detained a suspect, but they’ve now been released. Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha confirmed that there’s “no basis to consider him a person of interest”.

All of which means that we’re in the unique and disturbing position of having a mass shooting in which the perpetrator has, for now, gotten away with it. As these incidents usually end with the death of the shooter (either by their hand or via the cops), it’s got to be terrifying for anyone in the vicinity of Brown University to know that someone capable of this is still out there.

It is worth emphasizing that whoever this person is presents a clear danger to everyone around them, so we hope that the full might of law enforcement is focused on apprehending this person as soon as possible.
