Donald Trump now thinks it’s Ron DeSantis that is subverting election laws

Trump keeps baiting DeSantis.

In a continuous attempt to get people to focus on anything besides his upcoming indictment, former President Donald Trump has once again attacked his closest Republican rival for the presidency, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Trump’s latest tactic is claiming DeSantis is trying to “subvert” election law.

Trump took to his social media site Truth Social to claim that “Ron DeSanctimonious is running—without running! He’s doing this to subvert Election Law.” Unsurprisingly, he makes this claim with zero evidence to back it up – par for the course, since Trump has a habit of saying things all the time that are just plain made up. Also, DeSantis has been extremely careful about announcing whether he’s running or not.

Then Trump adds a nursery rhyme at the end of the sentence for some reason: “Run Ron, Run!” Trump then says “Others have done it before, though, so I can’t really blame him—But he should take a look at his Polls, which are crashing like few people have seen before.”

Then he pulls out the big guns, he calls DeSantis an “average REPUBLICAN Governor who has great Public Relations, far better than deserved.” Why is Republican in all caps? This unhinged speech from a desperate man sounds like crazy ramblings.

OK we’re almost through this thing. The last thing he says is that “When you look at the Florida #’s compared to other States, you will not be impressed—I will release them later in the day!” What numbers are we talking about exactly?

While it’s true that DeSantis has yet to announce his candidacy, why would he? Just because Trump announced his way early doesn’t mean DeSantis has to. He’s getting a ton of press from his book, the speculation of “will he run?” and of course, the fact that Trump keeps attacking him, which reinforces the idea that he’s the frontrunner.

He has zero reason to announce yet. So far, he’s avoided going to-to-toe with the former President, preferring to take the high road instead. The upcoming indictment is such big news that he had to say something though, so on Monday DeSantis responded, saying he’d seen no “facts” about a possible arrest.

“I’ve seen rumors swirl, I haven’t seen any facts yet,” DeSantis said. “What I do know is the Manhattan District Attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor, and so he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety.”

This is pretty clear politicking. He doesn’t want to alienate the Republican base or look weak but he also doesn’t want to take on Trump just yet. The smart move is to just wait this out and see how it plays out, and it looks like that’s just what he’s doing.
