Earlier this year Donald Trump made a rather petty dig at former president Joe Biden by replacing his presidential portrait with an image of an autopen. Now he’s taken it a step further by adding plaques containing unfounded rumors underneath the White House portraits and Biden isn’t the only former president targeted by Trump’s childish antics this time.
Trump used the plaques to insert insults and rumors regarding former presidents he does not like including Joe Biden and Barack Obama. According to ABC News, many of the plaques were penned by Trump himself according to White House Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and you can certainly tell by the style of writing. These official plaques contain random capitalization and many exclamation points, which anyone familiar with the president’s social media posts would immediately attribute to him.
What did Donald Trump write?
Underneath Biden’s autopen portrait the plaque refers to him as “Sleepy Joe Biden,” before stating that he was “by far, the worst President in American History.” Apparently objectivity is out the window, these portraits should really only contain factual information but apparently this is just another way for the vindictive Trump to get one over on his political rivals.
In fact, Trump doesn’t have a single nice thing to say about his predecessor in the lengthy description which fills two whole plaques beneath the portrait. He claims Biden was suffering from “severe mental decline” during his presidency which is kind of ironic considering the signs of mental decline Trump has been displaying lately.
And the president wasn’t any more kind to Obama either, referring to him as “Barack Hussein Obama” and spreading false claims “spied on the 2016 Presidential Campaign of Donald J. Trump, and presided over the creation of the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, the worst political scandal in American History.”
Outrage online
The response to these ridiculous plaques online was about what you’d expect. One person on X criticized the writing style saying, “it’s one thing to be that dumb online — but to stamp it in brass?” Another pointed out the blatant narcissism on display as every plaque somehow finds a way to mention Trump.
It seems like nobody thought this was a good idea and it just shows how childish and petty Donald Trump truly is. He’s a self-centered man whose only concern is getting one up on former rivals while simultaneously trying to make himself look good. However, these plaques achieve neither of those goals. American citizens can see through the misinformation and the smear campaigns from the Trump administration and hopefully, someday soon, those plaques will be taken down.
