Donald Trump couldn’t have been clearer about how unhappy he was that Bad Bunny would be performing the halftime show at Super Bowl LX. Last month, he told The New York Post: “I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”
All of which may lead you to believe he’d be the perfect audience for Turning Point USA’s “All American Halftime Show”, an attempt at counter-programming boasting the gathered talents of Kid Rock, Gabby Barrett, Lee Brice, and Brantley Gilbert.
But, as footage from the Trump watch party shows, he did indeed sit through the entirety of Bad Bunny’s show after all:
Released footage from inside Trump’s golf club Super Bowl party reveals the Bad Bunny half time show played on the big screens rather than the Far Right Turning Point USA alternative show.

So much for @TPUSA Half Time Meme Show. pic.twitter.com/g1cMO4YWor
So, was Trump won over by Bad Bunny’s exuberant pride in America, his message of togetherness and dignity in the face of adversity? Did he even enjoy the extremely attractive dancers? Well, no.
“Nobody understands a word this guy is saying”
Predictably, he (or at least, the staffer that drafts these posts for him) hated it:
The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.
Poring over every little thing that Trump says is pointless, as he’s always wrong about almost everything. But it is perhaps worth pointing out the ludicrousness of Trump arguing that “nobody understands” a guy speaking Spanish… The fourth most spoken language in the world? Spoken by around 59 million Americans?
Besides, it’s not as if Bad Bunny even launched into an abolish ICE protest mid-way through his set. The core message was something you’d think even MAGA could get on board with: a message of American unity, of North, South, and Central America coming together, and saying “God Bless America”.
At this point, you have to wonder what would make Trump happy. He had some extraordinarily Trumpian counter-programming that TPUSA may as well have aimed at him specifically. He snubbed it. Instead got sexy ladies dancing, a patriotic Super Bowl performance capped with “God Bless America”, and hated that too.
I suspect there’s only one Super Bowl performance that’d have truly pleased him: dragging the Village People out of their rest homes to play through YMCA five or six times. Now that’s entertainment!
