Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social to boast about America’s part in the conflict in Iran. For a guy who presents himself as an advocate for peace, the president sure does love blood and carnage, claiming that it is a “great honor” to be killing Iranians.
Responding to claims that the American operations in the Middle East were failing the president claimed that the U.S. military have “decimated” Iranian forces. “I, as the 47th president of the United States of America, am killing them. What a great honor it is to do so.” Trump wrote in his controversial post.
Naturally the insensitive post has ruffled more than a few feathers with people calling it his choice of words. For many this comes across as glorifying the killing of people in Iran. War is always ugly but to take apparent glee in the deaths of Iranians, especially when many already think this war is pointless, seems to be a step too far. Does Trump also consider it a great honor to bomb an elementary school? Or is he just going to pretend that was just another inevitable tragedy of this oh-so-necessary war?
The statement didn’t go over well
With the World Cup taking place across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico this year there have been calls for FIFA to withdraw from the U.S. following the president’s statement. “Move every match to Canada and Mexico. Or every nation should withdraw,” one account on X suggested.
Let’s not forget that Donald Trump was awarded the FIFA Peace Prize, something which has since become a source of embarrassment for the sports governing body. He also heavily campaigned to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, something which he sort of managed to get by taking the prize off of Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, (although he’s not officially recognized as a recipient of the prize).
Donald Trump is so anti-peace it’s a joke
All this latest Truth Social post has done is show that Trump was never about peace and he never will be, he just wanted the shiny prize to add to his collection of tasteless gold tat that he’s hoarding in the White House.
A majority of Americans are against military presence in Iran, but to Trump and the rest of the administration, the conflict in Iran is nothing more than a game. This week a tasteless video posted on The White House page on X that showed strikes in Iran spliced with footage from the popular Nintendo game, Wii Sports Resort, showed us all that the government does not seem to value human life in the slightest. This is all fun and games to them.
