Donald Trump’s excuse for not returning classified documents is he “was very busy…”

Not much of an excuse...

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has a lot of explaining to do when it comes to the classified documents that were stored in his house. You’d think that this President who constantly claimed to be “making America great again,” would have a compelling excuse as to why he kept numerous boxes around his estate. Unfortunately, the reasoning comes as no surprise to anyone.

During an interview with Fox News, Trump had the chance to explain himself as to why he kept very sensitive national security defense documents in his estate. He claimed that some of the contents in those boxes were his “personal items” and he didn’t have time to sort them.

“So like every other president, I take things out, and in my case I took it out pretty much in a hurry but people packed it up and we left. I had clothing in there. I had all sorts of personal items, and they are much, much stuff.”

Trump also claimed that “he was too busy” to sort the items in those boxes out. He claimed that his personal possessions were scattered in different boxes and didn’t want to hand them over yet. It’s been three years since the 2020 election, and it is shocking to see that he didn’t have the time to sort them all out.

“Because I had boxes. I want to go through the boxes and get all my personal things out. I don’t want to hand that over to NARA yet. And I was very busy as you have sort of seen.

“Before I send boxes over, I have to take all my things out. These boxes were interspersed with all sorts of things.”

It’s one thing to have your personal possessions in the White House. However, it is shocking to see a President keep his things inside the same location where classified documents are stored. The former President was charged with at least seven counts in relation to mishandling classified documents last week. PBS later reported last week that The Department of Justice released an unsealed Federal indictment, in which Trump faces 37 counts of mishandling classified documents, obstructing justice, and making false statements.

Unfortunately for the former U.S. President, his lawyers resigned last week and Trump’s legal team struggled to find new ones for fear of becoming a witness against him, according to The Guardian. The only people representing will be former Federal prosecutor Todd Blanche and the former Florida solicitor general Chris Kise.

When it was announced that Trump would be indicted once more, he released a statement on Truth Social, claiming that it was a hoax and that he is “an innocent man.” He also blamed the Biden Administration and that he was shocked to see a second indictment happen to a former President.
