‘Dumbest timeline’: Marjorie Taylor Greene just filed a bill to, well, prevent God from being manipulated by Dems

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has introduced federal legislation called the “Clear Skies Act.”

It would make it a crime to release chemicals into the atmosphere to change weather patterns. The Georgia Republican announced the bill, saying it would ban weather modification and geoengineering of all kinds.

Greene’s announcement comes after recent deadly flooding in Texas, which has led to increased conspiracy theories about weather-altering technologies, theories that Greene has been promoting while fighting what she calls “imaginary weather goblins. The congresswoman posted about introducing the bill on Saturday while the waters were still going down from the Texas floods. The legislation follows similar moves by other Republican leaders to address concerns about weather modification.

The announcement has drawn criticism from political opponents, with one account called “Republicans against Trump” posting that this represents the “dumbest timeline.” The account shared Greene’s video announcement and mocked the legislation as part of what they see as an embrace of conspiracy theories by some political figures.

Florida already passed a similar weather modification ban

Florida has already moved ahead with its own weather modification rules. The state passed Senate Bill 56 in April 2025, which Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law. The Florida law creates what supporters call a landmark geoengineering ban that stops weather modification activities, including cloud seeding and solar radiation modification.

The Florida law comes with serious penalties for anyone who breaks it. People who violate the weather modification ban face a $100,000 fine and up to five years in prison. The law covers a wide range of activities that could be used to change weather patterns or climate conditions in the state.

Greene’s federal bill would work in a similar way to the Florida law but would apply across the entire country. According to Greene, the Clear Skies Act would prohibit ‘the injection, release, or dispersion of chemicals or substances into the atmosphere for the express purpose of altering weather, temperature, climate, or sunlight intensity, ‘ essentially a bill to stop Democrats from ‘controlling’ the sun.” She said that violations would be treated as a felony offense, though specific penalties for the federal law have not been detailed yet.

The legislation comes at a time when conspiracy theories about weather control have become more common on social media and in political discussions. Some people believe that government agencies or other groups are using technology to control weather patterns, though mainstream scientists say these claims are not supported by evidence. Weather modification techniques like cloud seeding do exist, but are used in limited ways and are not capable of controlling large weather systems like hurricanes or major storms.

Both the Florida law and Greene’s proposed federal legislation represent a growing political movement to address these concerns through legal action. Supporters say the laws are needed to protect people from potential harm from weather modification experiments.
