Even the Kremlin has had enough of Donald Trump’s obsession with Greenland as Russia reiterates fact that the country belongs to Denmark

Russia has accused Trump and the U.S. of double standards over Greenland.

You know what they say, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Well it looks Russia is taking a side against its enemy, (the U.S.) as the Kremlin has announced that it considers Greenland to be a Danish territory, which undermines Donald Trump’s claims that obtaining the country is essential to national security against Russia.

Donald Trump is refusing to back down over the ownership of Greenland and it’s put the rest of the world on edge to say the least. The mad president has suggested using military force to take the country multiple times which has prompted NATO allies to mobilize and send troops over to Greenland.

But in a rather shocking twist the Kremlin has come out in agreement with NATO for once. According to the Independent, presidential spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, called the situation “extraordinary,” in regards to international law adding, “President Trump is in Washington … he himself has said that international law is not a priority for him,” a hypocritical statement considering Russia is also responsible for the war in Ukraine after invading it four years ago.

Russia’s foreign ministry also claimed that it was unacceptable that the West should keep claiming Russia and China are a threat to Greenland, stating that the incident exposed the double-standards of America as per Reuters.

Russia dismisses Trump’s excuse

For a while now the narrative has been that the U.S. simply must acquire Greenland in order to protect itself from the threat of Russia and China. However, many suspect that Trump’s ulterior motive is to get his hands on the vast natural resources that can be found in the country. If the Kremlin truly stands by its statement about Greenland belonging to Denmark then it would appear that the country isn’t under immediate threat like the president claims.

Trump has been looking for a way to absorb Greenland into the U.S. for a number of years now. The idea was first floated around 2019 although he was strongly opposed by many in Washington. Now, with much less opposition, it seems he wants to do everything in his power to obtain it. Peskov claimed that if Trump succeeded he would go down in history, “not only in the history of the United States, but also in world history.” Maybe that’s what truly motivates him to acquire the country.

There is no good reason for Trump to be so dead-set on obtaining Greenland as the country is protected by NATO anyway, although he reasons that it will only be truly safe under U.S. protection. Either way, his recent movements have got the rest of the world on edge as NATO allies are preparing for Trump to do something reckless.
