‘He’s being thrown to the wolves’: Texan father who moved his family to Russia because US is too ‘woke’ is sent to front lines

Derek Huffman joined the Russian military under the impression he'd be a welder.

A father who moved his family across the world to Russia in order to escape the “woke” culture in the U.S. has been sent to the front lines in Ukraine even though he has practically no combat experience and a limited knowledge of the Russian language.

Derek Huffman uprooted his family from their home and probably their friends too so that they wouldn’t be influenced by the politically correct environment that is apparently so prevalent in the U.S. Huffman took his wife, their three daughters, and the family Husky from Texas to Istra, which is just 25 miles outside of Moscow, earlier this year.

Huffman believed he’d have a non-combat role in the Russian military

According to GBNews, the 46-year-old originally agreed to join the Russian military under the assumption that he would be kept away from the front lines. Huffman believed that he would have a “non-combat role” as a welder and then war correspondent. However, in a recent video uploaded to the family’s YouTube channel, Derek’s wife, DeAnna Huffman, claims he has been sent “near” the front lines.

DeAnna explained that her husband had only been given the minimal amount of training and that the training was in Russian despite the fact Derek only has a limited understanding.

“Unfortunately, when you’re taught in a different language, and you don’t understand the language, how are you really getting taught? You’re not.”

DeAnna went on to say that Derek “feels like he’s being thrown to the wolves right now, and he’s kind of having to lean on faith.”

Huffman hasn’t been seen since June

Derek Huffman’s last appearance was in a one minute video which was addressed to his family and marked the U.S. celebration of Father’s day. That means it has now been over a month since he was last seen. In the video, which was posted in full to YouTube, Huffman can be seen wearing military gear, he also spoke of the possibility of getting vacation “at some point” so that he could come home and see his family again.

“You’re on my mind 24/7 and just know that what I’m doing is important to me and important to our family. Just know I will do whatever it takes to be safe and to come home to you. Take care of each other.”

The family migrated to Russia through the “shared values” visa which seeks foreigners who “reject neo-liberal ideology.” While the Huffman family claim they are doing fine in Russia, a link  on the family YouTube page (which has since been deleted) directed people to a Telegram page which asked the U.S. government to “save this family.”

Unfortunately for the Huffmans their new life in Russia doesn’t seem to have panned out as planned. Whether the family are seeking to return to the U.S. or not is currently unclear however, it has no doubt been a difficult ordeal for the daughters of the family.

Apparently the final straw which prompted Mr. Huffman to move his family across the world was his daughter learning about other people’s sexuality. The Huffmans were appalled when their daughter was told what a lesbian was by another girl in her class, so appalled that they packed up their life and moved to Russia. The family has made several appearances on state-affiliated media outlets where the move has been used as propaganda against the West.
