‘He’s raising Democrats’: Even Pete Hegseth’s kids are embarrassed by his excuses

Leaking top secret military plans once is bad enough, but doing it twice is just downright stupid. Apparently Pete Hegseth is incapable of learning his lesson.

Hegseth, who currently holds one of the most important roles in the government (although hopefully not for long) has allegedly made another oopsie by sharing more national secrets in a Signal group chat with his wife, brother, and a few other people he apparently felt like sharing this sensitive information with.

The news, which was shared by The New York Times, puts Hegseth in hot water especially after being involved in a separate Signal group chat leak last month which saw a journalist from The Atlantic get added to the group by mistake. It’s pretty embarrassing for someone in such an important position to make such a foolish mistake twice within the space of a month and many have called for Hegseth to lose his job over the situation.

Hegseth has tried to defend himself and turn it back on the media, but people aren’t buying it. As a matter of fact, it looks like even his own family aren’t buying it. A video of the Defense Secretary berating reporters in front of his kids on Tuesday is going viral after viewers spotted them cringing at their father’s outburst.

Standing behind Hegseth, two of his children can be seen cringing and glancing awkwardly around as he provides reporters with his lame excuses. The clip has been shared to social media platforms such as TikTok where even more people drew attention to the reaction from the kids.

To be fair, who wouldn’t be cringing if Hegseth was their dad? His attempt to blame the journalists and reporters calling the allegations “anonymous smears” that are “not going to work on me” reeks of desperation. At numerous points during his rant you can even hear his voice cracking. 

Embarrassing right? The look on his kids’ faces tells you all you need to know. Commenting on the clip, one person wrote, “Reminds me of Ted Cruz’s daughter, Caroline Cruz. She HATES trumps and shows it when with dad on stage.” Another noted, “They look terrified and embarrassed,” while a third added “He’s raising democrats.”

Hegseth simply cannot catch a break right now and it looks like he’s struggling to worm his way out of this hole. To be fair, he has brought this all upon himself. Regardless, it does seem like his job is safe for the time being, but people won’t forget this embarrassing blunder anytime soon, least of all his own kids it seems.
