House Republicans ‘miserable’ under Trump, dealing with ‘hate and violence’ from toxic MAGA base

A “bunch of sycophants, felons and idiots”

The world is full of the poor and desperate struggling each day to find enough water to drink and food to eat. Across the world, parents look anxiously at their hungry children, trying to navigate a chaotic world of war, disease, famine, and death.

Even so, won’t you spare some sympathy for the true victims in all this? Yup, I’m talking about the House Republicans, who are apparently exceptionally “miserable” under the second Donald Trump presidency. Excuse me a second, let me just fish out the world’s tiniest violin…

Yup, former Rep. Dave Trott has told The Daily Beast that, despite the man they profess to adore being in the White House, House Republicans are despondent after being subjected to endless attacks from the MAGA base.

Doubtless alluding to Marjorie Taylor Green’s surprise resignation last week, Trott said:

“Members I have kept in touch with are miserable, and the deplorable state of affairs in our Capitol today is certainly a driving factor behind many recent lawmakers’ resignations. … One of the most unfortunate changes in our cultural echo chambers now is that hate and violence is not only expected, but acceptable. Trump’s ability to energize his MAGA base against any Republican who demonstrates independent thinking has only exacerbated this problem, as has the impact of social media (on both sides of the aisle).”

Given Trump’s flip-flopping on the release of the Epstein files, we can understand why so many Republicans are unhappy. After all, many of them cheered Trump on as, during the 2014 campaign, he promised that he’d expose all of Jeffrey Epstein’s creepy ultra-wealthy friends and their sick proclivities.

Upon taking office, Trump then realized that – oh no – he was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s creepy ultra-wealthy friends! A sudden about-face was ordered, and suddenly House Republicans had to frantically reverse course and tell their base that, actually, they weren’t going to vote to release the files after all. The situation was only compounded when Trump flip-flopped again, humiliatingly dragging the House along with him.

Call it like you see it!

But Trott didn’t mince his words when it came to describing the Trump administration, describing them as a “bunch of sycophants, felons and idiots”. Hey! That’s not fair! Some of them are all three of those things at once!

Trott concluded with a plea to America’s better nature:

“Today the goal far too often is to not just win, but to destroy anyone who looks, thinks or acts differently than we do. I am not sure anymore, but I hope most Americans do not think this is right.”

I respect his optimism.
