According to MSNBC, in the interview, Hunter Biden specifically targeted actor George Clooney, who had written an opinion piece in The New York Times suggesting Joe Biden should drop out of the presidential race. Clooney has continued to criticize the Democratic Party’s handling of the 2024 election, recently calling it a ‘failed administration’. Hunter questioned Clooney’s right to criticize his father, who he said had given 52 years of service to the country.
During the conversation, Hunter Biden criticized Democrats for not unifying behind his father like Republicans do with their leadership. “Why do you think that the Republicans have an advantage over us? Because they’re unified,” Biden said. “They will go along with anything.”

He dismissed Axelrod’s political career, stating that his only success was due to Barack Obama himself. When addressing his father’s debate performance, Hunter Biden acknowledged Joe Biden’s age and fatigue, mentioning that the 81-year-old president takes Ambien to sleep and sometimes appears confused on stage. This explanation, however, raised more questions about Joe Biden’s fitness for office.
The younger Biden’s defense of his father comes amid his own controversial background, including his position on the board of a Ukrainian gas company that paid him up to $50,000 monthly, despite lacking relevant qualifications. His legal troubles, including a guilty plea for tax fraud and subsequent presidential pardon, have been a source of political difficulty for the Democratic Party.
