It was all supposed to get better when Donald Trump returned to the White House!
After all, Trump spent the 2024 campaign promising that there would be “no new wars” if he won, that gas prices would plummet, that groceries would cost less, that he’d expose corrupt and powerful pedophiles, that the economy would be turbocharged, and that, finally, the world would respect the United States once again.
As you may have spotted, the exact opposite has happened on all fronts to a perverse degree. W-w-w-w-was Trump just… lying to us?
With all those broken promises left in his wake, it’s hardly surprising that regular voters are abandoning Trump in droves and polling indicates he’s going to take a crushing beating in the November midterms.
But let’s zero in on a very telling interview with a Trump voter in Florida, who’s been left destitute and depressed by what’s happened, and just wants to go back to the good ol’ days with “Uncle Joe”:
Trump voter in FL:

Trump is helping his buddies out…never mind charging us Americans all sorts of money for fuel that he just stole from Venezuela
I miss Uncle Joe, I was a nobody and I was bawling then. Now, I couldn't even show you $5 in my pocket"pic.twitter.com/If6th8EJVq
When asked about Trump’s broken promises, the man says:
“He said he’d have gas under three dollars and now it’s right at five, and I mean honestly it’s something that he stole from somewhere and now we’re at what? Five dollars a gallon? He’s saying about ‘for our safety’, for our safety? Leave someone alone and they won’t bother you.”
This is what happens when you betray your base
Trump has insisted that a “small increase” is worth Americans being safer. The voter points out that this “small” price rise is crippling him, and he doesn’t feel any safer. When asked if he regrets his vote?
“Well, between him and her I thought he was the better choice. But honestly, I just miss my Uncle Joe. Because, yeah there was a lot craziness going on but it was a lot calmer than this! It didn’t affect my day-to-day life. I was a nobody and I was balling then. Now, I couldn’t even show you five dollars in my pocket. “
Sure, this is just one random guy off the street, but many Americans have a lot in common with his situation right now. With the Trump administration apparently surprised that Iran is actually putting up a fight and blindsided by their closing the Strait of Hormuz, it’s all but guaranteed that prices will rise yet further for regular folk, who are being hit in the wallet because of a war Trump explicitly promised wouldn’t happen.
Maybe it’s unlikely that former Trump voters are going to rush to vote Democrat in November. But at this point, it seems vanishingly unlikely that there’s going to be any enthusiasm for MAGA at the polls. Why would anyone believe their fake promises this time around?
