Another day another story about ICE making a mistake and not being held accountable. This time agents stormed a Target in Richfield, Minnesota, and arrested a 17-year-old worker by the name of Jonathan Aguilar Garcia before leaving him in a random Walmart parking lot upon the realization he was a U.S. citizen.
Footage of the shocking arrest and the aftermath have been circulating online with many outraged by yet another reckless move by the federal agency that further proves none of these agents really know what they’re doing. The dramatic footage shows Garcia and another target worker being dragged out of their place of work by ICE agents as Garcia yells “I’m literally a U.S. citizen!”
Both workers have apparently been confirmed as U.S. citizens. It appears they were simply targeted because of the color of their skin. According to an article from Scripp News, one of the workers was arrested for allegedly assaulting a federal law enforcement officer. More footage shows the aftermath with what appears to be Garcia being released.
ICE agents realize their mistake
Upon realizing their mistake, the officers threw Garcia out of the vehicle 8 miles from where he was abducted. In the video someone can be heard asking him if he’s ok, to which the boy responds “no I’m not ok.” He can be heard crying as the person recording notes there is blood on his face. He tells them the officers “slammed me on the f—ing ground.”
It’s an upsetting video and shows just how monstrous and dangerous ICE has become since Donald Trump became president. After the killing of Renee Nicole Good last week it seems they believe they can get away with anything.
The internet is outraged over what happened to Jonathan Garcia
Once again there has been a great deal of outrage directed towards ICE from concerned citizens online. “Listen to this boy cry. He just cries and my heart breaks for him,” stated TikToker, “That Lil Extra” adding, “This is what we’re doing to illegal immigrants and this is what we’re doing to citizens!”
Of course, at this point it feels somewhat hopeless as ICE continues to bully and abuse innocent people unimpeded by a government that refuses to protect its own citizens and chooses instead to side with, and protect, the aggressor. People have spoken up against the actions of ICE time and time again but nothing changes. How far will these agents go before someone with the authority to do something finally says enough is enough?
