‘I’m ICE, boys’: ICE auditor uses agency to try to dodge arrest in underage solicitation sting

I guess he thought the cops would just let him go?

What kind of monster willingly signs up for a job that entails putting a mask on and snatching people off the street? Shooting pastors in the head with pepper rounds? Yanking screaming babies from their parents’ arms?

Well, as a measure of the type of power-mad freak ICE attracts, a Twin Cities ICE employee has just been arrested on suspicion of soliciting a minor following “Operation Creep”, a sting operation by cops in suburban Minneapolis.

The perp is 41-year-old Alexander Steven Back, one of 16 men arrested following an undercover fake underage “prostitution service”. As per a report from MPR, on Nov. 13, Back responded to a fake online advert and was put in touch with an undercover cop posing as a girl named Bella.

“Bella” then told Back, “U ok if I’m a lil younger than my ad says … just wanna be honest.” Back allegedly replied “Sure” to which Bella responded, “K cause I am 17 and one guy got hella mad at me.”

After the cops confirmed twice that Back knew “Bella” was underage, he was given an address to meet her in Bloomington. But what he found waiting for him wasn’t a vulnerable teenager, but cops dangling handcuffs. As they explained:

“People at the Department of Homeland Security, there are great people there that come to work every single day and do their jobs and do it admirably. Unfortunately Mr “recently-married” Back here is not one of those people. He works for ICE and he is an auditor for them, a civilian employee, and when he was arrested he said “I’m ICE, boys”.

Well, y’know, unfortunately for him, we locked him up, put him in our jail, he got reappropriated to our jail and my understanding is – he helps send people to the federal authorities – I think he’s going to see some federal authorities, because the feds are going to take this case.”

Garbage attracts rats

It is quite telling that Back apparently thought that the cops would ignore what he’d done purely because he works for ICE. Honestly, though, as an ICE worker, arranging to meet an underage girl for sex might not have even been in the top ten most evil things he’d done that day. I guess your moral compass can get a little warped when your everyday job is immersing you in evil.

Regardless, it looks like it’s game over for Back for his career, his freedom, and his marriage (we can only feel sympathy for his newlywed wife on discovering all this). But ICE shouldn’t be surprised – if you’re recruiting for immoral work, expect immoral people to apply.
