Indiana council candidate Jaime West goes on a rant about MAGA Republicans. Then she looks at the camera and says: ‘We have guns too!’

She strongly dislikes Republicans.

Jaime West, who is running as a Democrat for a seat on the Fayette County Council in Indiana, spoke at length during a local TV interview about her views on Republicans and people she described as MAGA supporters. According to Mediaite, the interview was hosted by Amy Graham-McCarty, the managing editor of the Connersville News Examiner. It aired on LocalTV3 in Connersville, a town located more than an hour east of Indianapolis.

Graham-McCarty began by asking West to read an opening statement. West replied that she had not prepared one and would instead talk from the heart. She told viewers she operates a small cleaning business and is the mother of three grown children, saying each of them had turned out “pretty successful.”

Several minutes into the conversation, Graham-McCarty posed a question about a move West might make that could be seen as “unpopular” but that she thought would help Fayette County. West reacted with a loud groan and asked the host to repeat the question before answering.

West outlines her stance on Republicans and claims about threats

West responded by saying, “Firing all Republicans.” She went on, “I mean, I don’t even talk to them. I don’t like them.” She added, “What do you want me to say? I don’t like being around them. I mean, ya’ll did this to us, you all voted for us, you made this happen, this ICE coming into our community, stealing people’s jobs.” She pinned ICE coming into the community on Republican voters, the same group Bill Maher warned about.

After finishing that thought, West slapped both hands down on the table and let out a drawn-out “UGHHHHH.” She then described what she said were repeated confrontations with hate and violence from the MAGA base.

West stated, “I’ve been threatened so many times to my face by MAGA, we’ll call ’em. Because there’s Republicans who actually get it, you know. There are good Republicans out there.”

She continued by drawing a distinction, saying, “But then there are these MAGAs, who are just racist and aren’t very intelligent at all. They call you names – you know, the sheriff’s nephew threatened to blow my head off! But, you know, what are you going to do?” The host appeared to gasp audibly when West mentioned the claimed threat.

Graham-McCarty asked West for her final message to voters. West replied, “Hmmm. We have guns too!” She looked directly into the camera as Graham-McCarty noted that the election would be held on Nov. 3.
