Is Jeffrey Epstein alive?

After news broke about the death of Jeffrey Epstein in 2019, conspiracy theories quickly began spreading that the wealthy sex trafficker had somehow faked his death and was still out in the world somewhere. While many wrote this off as another insane conspiracy, new documents released by the DOJ seem to lend credence to the theory.

Millions of documents relating to the Epstein case were released last Friday and ever since, people have been combing through the new material and making all sorts of shocking and sickening discoveries. One document in particular has caught the public’s attention, the document labeled EFTA00133623.

What was in the document

The document in question shows a post to the anonymous imageboard website known as 4chan. The post was made shortly after the news of Epstein’s supposed death was made public. In the post, the anonymous user writes, “”ast night after 0415 count they took him medical in a wheelchair front cuffed but not 1 triage nurse says they spoke to him. Next thing we know a trip van shows up?”

The poster add that they don’t typically do releases on weekends, “Next thing we know, he’s put in a single man cell and hangs himself?” They add that the trip van did not sign in and the plate was not recorded before sharing his theory that “they switched him out.”

4chan and Citibank were subsequently subpoenaed by US Attorney Geoffrey Berman for user records and the poster was identified. According to thecanary.co, unredacted bank records show that the 4chan poster was one Roberto Grijalva, who was apparently a lieutenant at the prison at the time. The confirmation of the poster’s identity doesn’t confirm their story, but the fact it’s confirmed he really was working in the prison at the time has got people talking.

Is Jeffrey Epstein really dead?

Now many are convinced that Epstein’s death was faked and he’s is still out there. Photos of his deceased body are being analyzed by armchair morticians online while photographs of bearded men who resemble Epstein are being shared as proof he is alive and well somewhere outside of the U.S. 

Conspiracy theorists speculate he may have relocated to Israel to avoid recognition in America with one man on social media sharing a photo of a man in Tel Aviv, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the sex trafficker, being escorted by two bodyguards.

While such photos are hardly conclusive proof that Epstein is alive, many believe such a rich and powerful man with equally rich and powerful connections would not simply die in prison. The subpoenaed information from 4chan could theoretically detail how his death was faked, and the photos we’re seeing now could be the man himself, walking free, but there’s practically no way to confirm this for certain. 

Let’s also bear in mind the fact that there could have been any number of reasons authorities wanted to find out the identity of the 4chan poster, just because attorneys took the time to subpoena the site to find out who Grijalva was doesn’t mean he was telling the truth. The truth is we can’t say for certain Epstein is alive or dead, but until a more credible source says otherwise, the official story is that he is indeed deceased.
